
Autoban is an Istanbul based design studio, developing architectural and interior projects along with product designs that engage issues of creativity and knowledge, realism and imagination, function and culture.
Seyhan Ozdemir and Sefer Caglar established Autoban in Galata, Istanbul in 2003. The partnership has grown over the years - Efe Aydar joined the office in 2004, became Partner in 2007. A team of 35 – mostly architects and interior designers are working on both local and international projects in Autoban’s new office in Tunel, Istanbul since 2009.
Autoban have designed more than 300 various projects from small scale of a private home to large scale of a high-rise residential building. The first practices of their work were café and restaurants; whereas today their array of work also contains offices, retail stores, hotels and private residents. In 2006, Autoban has opened it’s first gallery in Istanbul showcasing the line of products, primarily designed for interior projects. In 2011, Autoban’s product designs were sold across Europe, USA, Asia and Australia, in more than 50 points, manufactured by De La Espada – Spain/Portugal based British company who’s in charge of production and sales worldwide.
The work of Autoban has won several international awards beginning with “Best Young Designers” by Wallpaper* (2004) and “Best Newcomer” by Blueprint Magazine (2005). The list continues with many awards given by different respectable organizations. Most recently, The House Hotel Nisantasi was listed in Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2011 and was listed as the 18th among the 100 Best Hotels in the World by Sunday Times Travel.
Current projects include “Razzia Restaurant Interior Design Competition” in which Autoban won the entry, the apart-hotel neighboring to that restaurant, ‘3 Razzia Seefeldstrasse 82’ in Zurich, Switzerland, renovation project of Anjélique in Ortakoy, Istanbul, private student housings in various parts of Istanbul, offices for Coca-Cola headquarter, CIP Lounge for Do&Co, restaurant chains for Istanbul Doors Group and retail stores for Vakko. Autoban’s shortlisted architectural project in World Architectural Festival (WAF) 2010, Nef Flats 163 is under construction, a high-rise residential project situated in the heart of Istanbul’s business center.
